vita coco kids... & a giveaway!

As my children grow, I've started to think more and more about my own childhood, the happy memories I have of holidays and summer vacations, and the memories I hope they'll have of their own experience growing up. It's fun to think about. We visited my parents last week (solo travel with children post to come!) and I just loved watching my daughters play with their first cousin, who they only see a couple times a year. A simple inflatable pool in the back yard might as well have been a huge water park... they were SO entertained just running around under the hose and splashing water at each other.

I have similar visions of my own summers growing up... working up the nerve to run through a sprinkler, making sand castles at the beach and eating popsicles on a towel in the backyard. We made our popsicles with fresh fruit, and they were delicious. Sure, there was plenty of Capri Sun and Kool-Aid floating around, too... but to my mom's defense, I don't think there were many alternatives in fruit drinks back then.

I try and be diligent about what my children are eating and drinking, especially when we're out and about. We always pack a water bottle, but it's fun to have something else to share with them. In fact, I'm loving the new line of drinks from Vita Coco. With only 35 calories and 8 grams of sugar per 6 fl. oz unit, Vita Coco Kids has fewer calories and approximately half the sugar of other children's beverages. Coconut water by itself is filled with electrolytes, and the drinks provide potassium, filtered water, natural fruit flavors and vitamin C. The girls love them (especially the "paradise punch" flavor) and I love that I'm giving them something that feels like a special treat, but is healthy, too.

Exciting news, dear readers -- I have one sampler case of new Vita Coco Kids flavors to give away!

Please see the Rafflecopter contest below, and I'll be in touch in a week with a winner. In the meantime, there's still plenty of summer memories left to make.

Enjoy!
