... and then there were two

Well, at almost 15 weeks I've decided to make it official...

Baby S 2.0 is on his/her way, arriving at a hospital near us this fall. We are beyond excited and have really enjoyed sharing the news with our family & friends. I've been looking forward to writing this post for weeks. I must admit this pregnancy happened a tad bit sooner than I was expecting, but it's all good, really.  I always knew that I wanted to have 2 kids and would like them close together... just never envisioned them 23 months apart!  I fully realize that it will be TOUGH at first (on many levels) but I hope that in the long run they will be good buddies as a result.

With general excitement & a million different things going through my head (not to mention absentmindedness, intermittent nausea & lack of clothing frustrations) I've been a little bit stressed as I think about what needs to happen before this new little one arrives...

A) We have to move
B) Did I mention we have to move?

Everyone knows packing bites the big one, & this scenario is more difficult with an active toddler thrown in the mix. Our current apartment is the perfect size for the 3 of us, but with another baby, well, I'm all for cozy but you gotta draw the line somewhere.  We hate to leave our neighborhood, but I don't see that we have much choice... Husband has been renting our place for a decade, & our rent is significantly cheaper than what an average apartment would go for in Chelsea.

So, the next question is, of course, WHERE to go... We'd love more space, yet aren't ready for the 'burbs (if ever).  We have a few neighborhoods in mind, but need to start the process of actually looking at places and making a decision, as I'd like this to happen sooner than later (though a gigantic belly is a great way to get out of moving boxes).

Long story short? Wish us luck! I am psyched to find my dream apartment, get Toddler S acclimated & be completely organized long before Baby S 2.0 makes an appearance on the scene... umm... because that's gonna happen, right?!  Right?

If you'd like us as a neighbor, please feel free to offer your 'hood/borough suggestion. :)

Congratulations lovely! So delighted to hear your wonderful news. And you looked so great on Saturday, not like someone with morning sickness. I'm sure it'll be great to move and get as settled as you can before the new baby. So GOOD LUCK with all that. Moving can be so stressful. Speaking of which... I need to move soon because my son and I are outgrowing our apartment. Are you guys considering subletting? No really... I'm curious.

Congrats. My first two were a tad closer together than I planned as well (19.5 months). And there were a few bumps at first but they have the best sweetest relationship ever. I think it helps when a little girl is the oldest in the situation, you can have her be a great helper with things and make it her special thing. My second just turned two and I am hoping he will be as great with our new one coming near the end of the month as his big sister was and continues to be with him. Good luck, you will find the rhythm that works best for your family once the new little one comes on the scene.

Though not exactly budget-friendly, we have LOVED the Upper West Side with our little family. Close to two big parks, convenient to transportation, and all sorts of kid-friendly restaurants, classes, playgroups, etc. We checked out places in Prospect Heights, BK too, and were really impressed by both the apartments and their proximity to the park and lots of subway lines.
